Microsoft is taking initiative to tap into the telephone business market. New technology makes it easier to use software and servers to combine channels of communication. Voice mail, email, voice calling, conferencing and instant messaging will be options available on Microsoft's new telephone. Microsoft is shifting its strategy to the Internet to grow and protect its existing businesses. Microsoft is trying to be more innovative with new product to slow the spread of Linux, another popular operating system. Microsoft is new to the telephone industry. However, it will work with its strategic partners' to develop products and spread technology.
